Safe Haven collects pet food for Sussex County people in need. We realize that in these difficult economic times, many families might feel that they can no longer afford to keep their pet(s). As long as the pets are loved and well cared for, it is best for the people and pets to stay together, so we give free pet food to anyone who requests it.
We also want to help the good people who feed the stray cats of Sussex County. The greatest response to our outreach efforts has been from people who feed colonies of cats that range in size from 8 to more than 40 cats. We are providing cat food that feeds over 600 cats. It is our experience that people of very modest means are often the ones who do the most for colonies of stray, barn and feral cats.
We do Trap Neuter Return of cat colonies and then provide cat food to the good-hearted people who care for the colonies, such as this farm family who lives in western Sussex County.
