Safe Haven is honored to have had bipartisan support from our Congressional Delegation.

Senator Thomas Carper (D-Del) has supported Safe Haven for years. "My family shares our home with two cats that we adopted from local shelters and they bring us much joy. I have always supported animal protection bills, and understand the importance of protecting these innocent creatures who cannot speak for themselves. Safe Haven Sanctuary will serve as a model for others to follow and I am hopeful that these funds will be one of the final steps to getting the sanctuary doors open. People want to share their lives with animals and Safe Haven, through their innovative programs, will allow that to happen. I was happy to participate in the groundbreaking of Safe Haven Animal Sanctuary in 2008 and look forward to cutting the ribbon and helping these animals start new and happy lives."

Senator Ted Kaufman (D-Del.)says "This loan is not only in response to the urgent need for a sanctuary for the many cats and dogs that need shelter, but it is also a testament to the many people who have made this project their life's passion. The sanctuary's volunteers and staff worked very hard to obtain this loan. It may be true that love can't buy wood or nails, which is where this loan comes in, but money can't buy the persistence and devotion which is the trademark of the friends of Safe Haven. I wish the best of luck as the sanctuary breaks ground, creates jobs, and begins caring for the many hungry and abandoned animals in Sussex County."

Congressman Mike Castle (R-Del) says, "As a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives Animal Protection Caucus, I am pleased that construction on the Safe Haven No-Kill Animal Sanctuary is moving one step closer to meeting their goals of caring for thousands of dogs and cats in Delaware and providing low-cost animal services for Sussex County families. Safe Haven's "green" sanctuary will not only house needy animals, and benefit families in the community, but will also help boost the local economy by providing several new job opportunities. I recognize and thank the Safe Haven staff for all of their hard work and the dedication that went into making this vision a reality."
