Foster Families

interested in helping to exercise and socialize with our dogs being boarded in kennels. If you are interested,

A foster family can adopt a
dog if it is in the best interests of all concerned. We find that the fostering process is an excellent way for

Dogs Available for Fostering/Adoption
|

Safe Haven is saving dogs with our
Life Preserver program by pulling them in cooperation with Kent County SPCA, which has the Dog Control contract with
Sussex County and therefore has many Sussex dogs. We find foster homes for as many dogs as possible. The dogs who need
foster homes at this time are indicated by Foster Home Needed under
the photo. A good number of our foster
families are adopting the dogs. We board the other dogs in kennels until they are fostered/adopted locally. A few of the dogs have been transported to No Kill shelters
in Northern New England, where they have been quickly adopted. Click to see photos of our last transport. We are so grateful to the folks who have donated $100 to sponsor a dog on the journey to his/her forever home. This helps us
cover the costs of boarding the dogs in private kennels and the veterinary care that the dogs often need, since so many of
them have health issues when we get them. We are committed to providing world-class medical care, like Best Friends,
the No Kill shelter in Utah that is our model. The sponsors of
our dogs are listed under the dogs' names. You can sponsor a dog with the secure Paypal button
(right col. below) or by sending a check with Life Preserver Dogs on the note line.
